Lunch Club

Lunch club on a Tuesday is much more than a meal. Around 40 guests arrive independently from noon onwards at the John Lees Hall next to church and have a chat. We are led in a short Thought for the Day (be warned about David Maggs' jokes!) and then eat around 12:30pm. There is a tasty two course meal, sitting with our friends at large tables so we can catch up on the news.

People comment on the nice buzz of chatter around the room. It really brightens up the day to have somewhere friendly to go, especially if you live alone — and the washing up is done for us too! All this for £3.70. Just come along; there's no need to book.

Third Tuesday Club

The Tuesday club in action

Third Tuesday follows on from Tuesday Lunch club once a month. FUN is our keyword. Starting around 2:00pm for two hours, we cover a very wide range of activities.

We often start with a quiz (nothing too challenging) have a Thought for the Day, perhaps some gentle keep fit (sitting down in a chair), sharing memories with each other and fun games with soft balls and goal posts (ooh, can they get competitive!) or 'sheep shearing' balloons covered with shaving foam. We also like a bit of singing. It’s great to be able to play some games in a large room with lots of people to make up teams.

We end with a cup of tea and piece of cake and lifts are provided home, if wanted. We ask for a donation of 50p. We’re open to all men and women who would like to come along.

Craft Club

Craft club is a great place to bring your UFOs. Many of us have UnFinished Objects in our cupboards that we always mean to finish but never have the time!

It is a great chance to have an oasis of calm in a busy week to just sit down and crochet or make cards or sew. Alternatively, it could be lovely time in your quiet week to knit and natter over a cup of tea and biscuit. We get ideas and help from each other. It is lovely to chat with others who are equally enthusiastic.

We meet on the second Saturday of the month from 10:00am–1:00pm and everyone from 1 year to 100 years old is welcome.

Thursday Fellowship (formerly Women's Meeting)

This is are a welcoming and friendly, mixed group of mainly ladies who meet on Thursdays at 2:30pm in the John Lees Hall next to church. We have speakers from the community as well as from our own church covering a variety of subjects.

Concerts by Rob Colley and students from Rugby School are always a favourite.

We've recently had a name change, and although we're mostly ladies any men who are interested in the programme are very welcome to join us indeed. For more details and a programme contact Bobbie by email or phone 01788 579272.
